Can The Tops Swing in a Win

With many exciting talents such as: Conference USA hitting champion Luke Brown returning this season, topper fans are longing for a successful season. With some bumps along the way last season, WKU ended their season with a 21-31 record. This year, for their 100th season of baseball, they look to change things. Though they have had a slow start, there has been some close games that WKU has come up short on (Louisiana Monroe & Libscomb). After a tough couple of weeks of loses (since March 1st) WKU looks to come out on top against an old rival, the Kentucky Wildcats. Last season the Tops showed they could play with the “Big Boys” but were unable to finish in the end. There were close games with ranked Vanderbilt, Louisville, and Kentucky last season. WKU failed to finish on top in the end of these games, forcing a loss by only 1 point. This year, the Tops look to change this by beating Kentucky tomorrow at 3pm. This game will take place in Lexington.

So what can the Tops do to pull a much needed win? Well to start, we have lots of experience returning this season. Luke Brown, Kevin Lambert and Jacob Green are just a few of these returners. UK has also not performed as well as they have in past season, as they have an 11-4 record and an unranked status. Last year in the 2018 season, WKU was up 3-0 going into the 9th before giving up 4 straight runs to the Cats. If there is anything to be learned from this game, as well as many others, it is to finish strong. A win tomorrow could boost the spirits of the Tops and give some motivation for the remainder of the season. Tune in tomorrow on ESPN SEC +, WKU Sports TV, or the UK Sports Network, to watch the game and/or receive live updates.
