Coming out of High School Charles Bassey was rated the #6 overall prospect in the country by 247 sports
In his freshmen season on the Hill Charles Bassey averaged 14.6 ppg, 10.0 rpg, & 2.4 bpg. These numbers earned him some serious talk of becoming a first round pick in the NBA.
Recent Mock Drafts:
- NBC Sports has Charles going #26 to the Philadelphia 76ers
- NBA Draft Net has Charles going #19 to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
- Other outlets such as SI and Bleacher Report have Charles rated between the 30-40 overall prospect.
The difference in money between a first round NBA draft pick and a second round pick is substantial. A first round top 25 pick rookie contract is worth around 10 Million over 4 years. Whereas an early second round NBA draft picks contract is worth around 4-5 Million over 4 years.
The NBA draft combine will take place May 14-19 in Chicago. It is almost certain Bassey will be invited to work out and get feedback from NBA scouts. Also, Charles is able to hire an agent and return to college basketball as long as he does not accept money from the agency.
Charles must withdraw his name from the NBA draft by June 10th if he wishes to return to college for another season.
