WKU Football Week 2 at FIU | WKU Connection

Week 2 starts Conference USA East competition against FIU on the road for WKU. The Panthers coming off a good season with an 8-4 regular season record and a Makers Wanted Bahamas Bowl against Toledo. They open their season against @ Tulane.

The Offense:

Their offense last season averaged 34 points per contest. When they ran the football they averaged 175 yards per game. When going to the air they saw 245 yards per game. During C-USA play they ran for only 158 yards per game and passing for 263 yards. They scored 81% of the trips inside the red zone. They were able to convert 65% of those trips into touchdowns. They return 8 starters on offense.

What They Return:

James Morgan lead the team in passing yards a season ago with 2,727 yards.

Napoleon Maxwell lead the team in rushing a season ago with 697 yards.

The Defense:

The defense for the panthers gave up 25 points per game a season ago. They allowed 192 yards per game on the ground. While though the air they allowed 194 yards per game. When teams got in the red zone they gave up points on 77% of trips. Teams where able to score on 58% of their drives.

What They Return:

They return 8 starters on defense.

Sage Lewis led the defense in tackles during 2018 with 132 ( 83 solo and 49 assisted).

Against WKU a season ago they ran the ball for 197 yards and passed for 171. Defeating the Hilltoppers by a score of 38 to 17.

Should be a packed house in south Florida. *Sarcasm*
