UAB is coming off a great season as the defending Conference USA champions. Also having defeated Northern Illinois in the Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl 37-13. They start the season out playing 2 home games and 1 on the road. They will he returning 13 starters from a season ago, 8 on offense and 5 on defense.


The Offense

Last season their offense a season ago was putting up an average of a hair under 30 points a game. UAB rushed for 201 yards a contest and threw the ball for 204 yards per game. UAB average 405 total yards of offenses per game last season. They were a very balanced offense. When they got down in the red zone they were able to put up points on the board 82% of the time. UAB scored touchdowns in the red zone 58% of the trips.

What They Return on Offense

The man who started 4 of their last 5 games at quarterback is Tyler Johnston III, who threw for 1275 yards a season ago. Spencer Brown, the first team all-conference running back will return for UAB rushing for 1227 yards last season.

The Defense

On defense the blazers only allowed 17 points per game. UAB allowed only 118 rushing yards per game. Teams would throw for an average of 181 yards per game. In the red zone they surrender points 83% of the trips. While teams would score touchdowns 46% of the time in the red zone.

Top Return for the defense

Fitzgerald Mofor was the second leading tackler a season ago with 75 tackles (42 solo and 33 assisted).
