It was announced Tuesday that St. Johns Guard Eli Wright was transferring from the program:

How does this news pertain to WKU?

Eli is from nearby Owensboro, KY where he attended Apollo High School for 3 years before transferring his senior season to 22 feet academy in 2016.

Wright was ranked a 4 star prospect by 247 sports (#80 Overall) in the class of 2016.

Eli committed to Mississippi State in August of 2015. At Mississippi State in 2016 he averaged: 3.5 ppg and 1.6 rpg. In 2017: 3.0 ppg, and 2.2 rpg. Before transferring to St. Johns in 2018 where he had to sit out the entire 2018-2019 season due to the NCAA’s transfer rules.

After not playing at all in 2018-2019 at St. Johns Wright has decided to again transfer, and I hope WKU will reach out. Eli is from the region with much of his family still living in Western Kentucky today. Seeing him play his final season in Diddle Arena would be a good ending to Wright’s college career.

Would you like to see WKU Basketball reach out to Eli and offer him a spot on the roster? Give us your thoughts!
