In a recent article by the WKU Herald, WKU President Tim Caboni offered his thoughts on this upcoming basketball season by stating,

“Right now, in Conference USA, we’re a single-bid league, “…” That means the way you go to the tournament is to win the league, and so that’s the expectation.”

It has been 6 years since WKU Basketball has heard their named called on selection Sunday. This should be the expectation set by President Caboni heading into the 2019-2020 season. With Western Kentucky returning a majority of key pieces from a season ago. Returning players such as, Taveion Hollingsworth, Josh Anderson, Charles Bassey, Carson Williams (sat last season due to transfer rules), and Jared Savage. As well as, adding Camron Justice, Kenny Cooper, Jordan Rawls, Eli Wright, Jackson Harlan, and Isaiah Cozart the Hilltoppers time to end their NCAA drought is now.

No doubt this season will be the most pressure WKU Head Coach Rick Stansbury has felt in his time in Bowling Green. From fans to the members of the university, expectations have never been higher then they are this season.

You can read the Heralds article, “WKU Basketball spending more, winning less in recent seasons” where the quote by President Caboni was reported.

Caboni has high hopes so, what are your thoughts about the upcoming season? Let us know!
