After this weekend win at Arkansas, WKU has risen to number 71st. This is a rise of 8 spots from last week . With this week being a bye week we won’t see much of a movement for WKU.

In week 1 USA Today had WKU at 114, week 2 they had WKU ranked 130, week 3 they had WKU 116, in week 4 WKU was ranked 117, in week 5 WKU was ranked 117, and in week 6 WKU was ranked 103, in week 7 WKU was ranked 74th, in week 8 WKU was ranked 67th, and in week 9 WKU was ranked 69th, in week 10 WKU was ranked 79th. WKU is on a bye this week. WKU ranks 6th in Conference USA ahead of North Texas, FIU, Middle Tennessee, Charlotte, UTSA, ODU, Rice, and UTEP.

Well after back to back losses in conference play WKU has dropped in the rankings again to 79th. This is a fall from 69th last week. Hopefully this week WKU can get back in the winning column and rise back up in the rankings.

Small setback in USA Today Poll | WKU Connection

After the 1st conference loss WKU saw themselves drop very small in the USA Today poll to 69th. This coming off 4 wins in a row. This is a 2 spot setback from last week.

Bowl Projections after week 9

After a last second loss at Marshall , WKU is still just 1 game away from being bowl eligible this season. WKU still is tied for first in Conference USA east division with Marshall and FAU.

When Coach Helton came to WKU he said it’s all about winning championships here and he had started to make that look true with a hot start in conference play of 4-1, and a 5-3 overall record.

DeAngelo Malone Tops Nation in different categories | WKU Connection

WKU Football DE DeAngelo Malone is starting to get some national recognition with his play this season. So far on the season he has totaled 9 sacks over the first 7 games. (Which includes playing against an Army team who only threw the ball 12 times)

Currently Malone is:

  • Tied for 3rd right now in sacks with 9
  • Leads the nation in sack yards with 76 yards.
  • Leads the nation in tackles for loss with 16.

DeAngelo Malone’s stat line for each game is as follows :

  • vs Central Arkansas – 6 solo tackles, 2 assisted tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks and 15 sack yards
