After a nice lopsided homecoming victory WKU is now just 1 game away from being bowl eligible this season. Now, after 4 straight WKU is looking like a bowl game isn’t the first thing on their minds, maybe a conference championship game is something that looks possible now and it looks like virtual lock this team will be back in a bowl after a 1 year drought. This is after having 4 straight years with playing in a bowl game.
When Coach Helton came to WKU he said it’s all about winning championships here and he had started to make that look true with a hot start in conference play of 4-0, and a 5-2 overall record.

After the 4th conference win of the season and now 4 wins in a row WKU keeps moving up the ladder in the latest USA Today poll to number 67. This is a 7 spot jump from last week.
In week 1 USA Today had WKU at 114, week 2 they had WKU ranked 130, week 3 they had WKU 116, in week 4 WKU was ranked 117, in week 5 WKU was ranked 117, and in week 6 WKU was ranked 103, and in week 7 WKU was ranked 74th. Since WKU is on the road at Marshall this week if they get another win you could see WKU jump into the top 50. WKU ranks 3rd in Conference USA ahead of Southern Miss, Marshall, FAU, North Texas, FIU, Middle Tennessee, Charlotte, UTSA, ODU, Rice, and UTEP.
WKU men’s and women’s basketball programs will be in action tonight with Hilltopper Hysteria. This will be the first time fans get to see the teams for the upcoming season. Both teams are coming into the season with high expectations.
The full scrimmage will showcase how deep the team will be this year.
Things that are expected to happen tonight: an exiting entrance for all the players, full scrimmage from the men’s basketball team, and autograph signings from both teams.

After week 7 in college football USA Today has a new ranking of all 130 college football teams. WKU is ranked 74 which is the up 17 spots after the win vs Army. In week 1 USA Today had WKU at 114, week 2 they had WKU ranked 130, week 3 they had WKU 116, and in week 4 WKU was ranked 117, in week 5 WKU was ranked 117, and in week 6 WKU was ranked 103, in week 7 WKU was ranked 91. WKU plays Charlotteat home this week, if WKU keeps winning they could see a top 50 team by the end of the season. WKU ranks 4th in Conference USA ahead of FAU, Marshall, North Texas, ODU, Rice, Middle Tennessee, Charlotte, FIU, UTSA and UTEP.
Today the WKU basketball team will welcome in scouts from the different NBA teams to Diddle Arena to get the first look at this year team. They will be doing a lot of different measurements along with playing a little pick up. This event is not open to the public nor will it be on TV.
WKU had more than 350 scouts over last season watch a game played by WKU. They saw upwards of 40 scouts at once come watch the team play.
Most eyes will be on returning sophomore Charles Bassey. He has been projected as a first round pick in the 2020 draft by some different sites.
A new report coming from ESPN SP+ giving WKU a 79% chance to win more than 6 games this season. They believe of the last 7 games WKU will win at least 3 of those games.
They also give WKU a 29% chance to win the east division of Conference USA. It says that is second best behind FAU at a little over 50%. But FAU come to the hill in just a few short weeks.
They give a player at each position go watch and not to any of WKU fans surprise DeAngelo Malone is the only defense end listed. According to ESPN he leads the nation in tackles for loss with 13. He made a huge jump the last 2 weeks with having 7.
