Week 6 vs Army

Army will be running the option offense, which is very hard to prepare for in a week time. They start the year off playing to of CUSA west teams in Rice and UTSA, and a trip to the Big House in Michigan. Army finished 2018 with an 11-2 record ranked 19th in the final AP poll.

The Offense

The Army offense scored 32 points per game a season ago. They were among the nations best at running the football with having 312 yards rushing a game. Now throwing the ball they averaged 80 yards per game. They would put up 392 yards of total offense a season ago. Once they got down inside the red zone they scored 87% of the time. They scored touchdowns 72% of the trips inside the 25.

Lead Returners on Offense

Kelvin Hopkins Jr. was the leading rusher and passer a season ago for the black knights with 1078 yards on the ground and 1026 passing yards.

The Defense

This Black Knights defense was only allowing teams to score 17 points per contest. They gave up 106 yards rushing a game and allowed team to pass for 188 yards per game. Opponents would average 295 yards in total offense a year ago. When team would get in the red zone they would score 76% of trips and only score touchdowns 66% of the time.

Top Returner on Defense

Army will be losing its leading tackler but will return Cole Christiansen who was second on the team with 77 total tackles (42 solo and 35 assisted).
