Which Former Hilltoppers Made The Cut? | WKU Connection

As NFL teams begin to finalize their rosters ahead of week 1, here is a list of former Hilltoppers who made the cut for their teams final 53 man roster:

•TE- Jack Doyle (Colts)

•TE- Deon Yelder (Chiefs)

•TE- Tyler Higbee (Rams)

•OT- George Fant (Seahawks)

•OG- Forrest Lamp (Chargers)

•LB- Joel Iyiegbuniwe (Bears)

WR Taywan Taylor was recently involved in a trade sending him to Cleveland in return for a 2020 draft pick.

Taylor’s battle will be uphill in Cleveland, having established NFL veterans ahead of him like, Odell Beckham, Jarvis Laundry, and Rashard Higgins. Playing time and targets will not come so easily.

To this point of his career Taylor has totaled 53 catches for 697 yards in 29 games played.

Friday night the Titans defeated the bears (19-15) in week 4 of the NFL preseason.

After the game we got a picture of former Hilltoppers Joel iyiegbuniwe, and Taywan Taylor.

Taylor finished the game without recording any stats. Iyiegbuniwe recorded 2 tackles for the Bears defense.

The Tennessee Titans finish the preseason (2-2) as they face off with the Cleveland Browns next Sunday. Rumors have been floating that Taywan Taylor could be heading to Cleveland via trade.

The Bears finish the preseason (1-3). They will play the Green Bay Packers next Thursday night in the NFL season opener.

Joel Iyiegbuniwe At Chicago Bears Training Camp | WKU Connection


Iyiegbuniwe begins his second season in the NFL with the Chicago Bears. He was selected 115th overall in the 4th round of the 2018 draft.

Rookie year: Last season Iggy totaled 3 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, and 5 tackles on special teams in a role that was mostly filled with special team snaps.

Moving forward: He will look to gain more of a role in the bears linebacker core that includes, Khalil Mack, Roquan Smith, and Danny Trevathen.
