Reports surfaced throughout the week that rising sophomore guard Dalano Banton was looking to transfer.
Wednesday afternoon those rumors we heard came true, as it was announced that Banton would be transferring from the WKU mens basketball program. Banton posted this on his Instagram Thursday evening-
“This past year at WKU, I have built great relationships that will last forever. I would like to thank my teammates, the staff and the fans for the amazing support.
With that being said, I have decided to Withdraw from WKU and I am officially announcing my release from the program. I will be actively seeking a new opportunity to pursue my Academic and Athletic Career and to continue to grow as a young man.”
We wish Dalano much success in his future endeavors.
WKU Basketball has confirmed that rising sophomore guard Dalano Banton intends to transfer from the program.
This news comes after WKU MBB F Matt Horton announces his decision to transfer earlier today.
Reclassifying to the 2018 class 247 sports ranked Dalano as the 92nd overall recruit in the country and a 4 star prospect. Banton held offers from other schools such as Kansas State, Umass, and Minnesota.
Dalano Bantons 2018-2019 stats:
Appeared in 31 games (12 starts)
Bantons best night came in WKUs win against #16 Wisconsin when he posted a stat line of 8 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists.
With senior guard Lamonte Bearden leaving it was thought that Banton would take control of the offense in 2019-2020. Rick Stansbury will likely search for a grad transfer at PG for next season.
