Former Hilltopper Deon Yelder Is A Super Bowl Champion | WKU Connection

Last night the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers in super bowl 54 from Miami, Florida.

Among those on the winning side included former Hilltopper Tight End Deon Yelder.

Yelder famously was a former 4 year walk-on at WKU under Jeff Brohm before totaling 52 catches and 688 yards in 2017.

This season Deon recorded 3 catches for 50 yards in 12 games played.

Yelder becomes the second Hilltopper with a super bowl ring joining former RB Bobby Rainy (Giants).

Congrats Deon! Go Tops!

Deon Yelder

On the opening drive from the Chiefs, Yelder caught two passes from Kansas City Quarterback Patrick Mahomes. This was Yelder’s first reception of his NFL career.

Yelder went for 43 yards with some run after the catch ability displayed on both catches. Yelder was really the only spark to the Chiefs passing attack in the first quarter.

Deon ended the game with 2 catches on 2 targets for 43 yards in a Chiefs 34-30 victory in Detroit.

Jack Doyle

Colts Tight End Jack Doyle totals 4 catches for 22 yards with 1 touchdown in the Colts 31-24 loss to the Oakland Raider in Indianapolis.
