Which Former Hilltoppers Made The Cut? | WKU Connection

As NFL teams begin to finalize their rosters ahead of week 1, here is a list of former Hilltoppers who made the cut for their teams final 53 man roster:

•TE- Jack Doyle (Colts)

•TE- Deon Yelder (Chiefs)

•TE- Tyler Higbee (Rams)

•OT- George Fant (Seahawks)

•OG- Forrest Lamp (Chargers)

•LB- Joel Iyiegbuniwe (Bears)

WR Taywan Taylor was recently involved in a trade sending him to Cleveland in return for a 2020 draft pick.

Taylor’s battle will be uphill in Cleveland, having established NFL veterans ahead of him like, Odell Beckham, Jarvis Laundry, and Rashard Higgins. Playing time and targets will not come so easily.

To this point of his career Taylor has totaled 53 catches for 697 yards in 29 games played.

We’re behind you Taywan!

Over the weekend we had several news worthy stories that made the cut in Monday mornings recap.

Camron Justice signs with WKU

On Friday it was announced that IUPUI grad transfer Camron Justice had signed with WKU (Per Evan Daniels).

This makes 3 Kentucky Mr. Basketball winners on the same team- Justice (2015), Williams (2016), Hollingsworth (2017).

Justice will provide shooting at the guard position for Western Kentucky next season. Now with Justice (35.2%), Hollingsworth (34.4%), and Savage (36.9%) as our best three point shooters for next season. I view WKU’s lineup looking something like this next season (if Bassey returns)-

WKU Recruit Curt Lewis Chooses EKU Over WKU, UAB, MTSU, JSU.

On Saturday morning WKU recruit Curt Lewis from Aspire Academy in Louisville, KY chose EKU. Last season Lewis averaged 32 ppg and 17 rpg last season. It was rumored that Lewis was leaning toward Western Kentucky until his visit to Jacksonville State earlier last week. Also, the commitments of Kenny Cooper and Camron Justice did not help WKU in landing Lewis. With that being said, I don’t believe Lewis was ever a priority for Rick Stansbury.
