Everyone’s favorite College Basketball Insider Jeff Goodman had this to say about Charles Bassey and WKU in a post earlier this morning. He has WKU as the #9 overall “Winner” in the NBA Draft Decision Deadline. The article can be found here.

Goodman had this to say about WKU-

” The talented big man was dead-set on staying in the NBA Draft, but was persuaded at the last minute to return to the Hilltoppers. It’s the right decision for Bassey, who wasn’t going in the first round and may not have gotten a guaranteed deal in the second round. Bassey can improve his stock and Western Kentucky should be the favorites in C-USA.”

Goodman actually gave WKU some praise by naming them the favorites next season in CUSA. With this praise now raises the question, can WKU live up to the hype next season? After last seasons sky high preseason expectations and coming up short in the conference USA championship game for the second straight year, Bowling Green is hungry for another NCAA tournament bid.

This is how the roster looks as of now for the 2019-2020 season-

With a back court of:

  • Kenny Cooper (Assuming eligible)
  • Taveion Hollingsworth
  • Camron Justice
  • Jordan Rawls
  • Jeremiah Gambrell

The WKU back court is loaded with talent and experience and should be a big scoring threat from inside and out.

The front court/wing consists of:

  • Charles Bassey
  • Jared Savage
  • Josh Anderson
  • Marek Nelson
  • Tolu Smith
  • Nick Ogenda
  • Isaiah Cozart
  • Jackson Harlan

Next years 2019/2020 roster looks to be a legit 10 players deep with a strong inside and outside presence. Hopefully the off court drama can stay at a minimum, and WKU can take care of business to make a deep run in March.

Last Wednesday via his Twitter Jeff Goodman took another shot at WKU Head Coach Rick Stansbury.

With several SEC coaching jobs open and Rick Stansburys history of coaching, Goodman saw this as an opportunity to take a shot at Stansbury.

WKU supporters thoughts:

Ouch.
